TID Program

ROAD to OLYMPICS Phase 1-pilot project

Road to Olympics, Talent Identification project is proposed to be launched with the mission of improving the talent pathways in Sri Lanka, in order to identify & develop high performers from Sri Lanka to achieve their potential and progress to complete at Olympics level in selected sports from 2028 onwards. This project will be conducted in collaboration with Ministry of Education, in training centers established at participating schools in 25 Districts. A long-Term Systematic Training Procedure will be established under this project as follows.

  • Multi-lateral physical training programme for Two years.
  • Event specific fundamental training and multi-lateral physical training for the athletes.
  • Event specific skill training and motor abilities training within two years.
  • Advance event specific training and event specific motor abilities training for the athletes.

Following output is expected from the phase 1 of the pilot project

  • 50*25= 1250 Trained Athletes.
  • 75 Trained Coaches.
  • 25 Training Centers.
  • Develop infrastructure at training centers in selected schools.
  • To improve the knowledge of the coaches through Training of the Trainer (ToT) Programmes.
  • To implement Scientific Training Systems.

Benefits to the athlete

  • Rs:1500/= monthly allowance to cover transport cost.
  • Continuous training under professional trainers.
  • Training kit and bio profile book.
  • Selection to National level pools based on the performance.
